
Eric Tsai is a Taiwanese-American violinist whose playing has been described as both “dashing” and “heart-wrenching," and whose thoughtful performances have earned him a place on stages across the globe. The 2nd Prize winner of the 2019 Michael Hill International Violin competition, Eric has garnered critical acclaim as a soloist and chamber player, as well as a champion of music from Taiwan.

Wherever he performs, Eric is deeply committed to spreading hope and light to audiences around the world through his art. Throughout the pandemic, his quartet partnered with Taiwan Connection to bring music to under-served communities across Taiwan, and he has also participated in other community engagement projects across New York and Philadelphia. In 2025, he founded and directed the inaugural season of SPIRITUS, a new chamber festival and initiative bringing world-class music to Long Island's Suffolk County.

Eric's mentors include Hagai Shaham, Catherine Cho, Ida Kavafian, and Shmuel Ashkenasi; he received degrees from the Curtis Institute of Music and the Juilliard School, and recently completed his doctoral coursework at Stony Brook University as a Staller Fellow.
